Value Elicitation through Card Play
As part of the Signo project, a series of three workshops was held on the 18th, 23rd, and 24th of October 2024, bringing together ophthalmologists, designers, developers of healthcare technologies, and philosophers. The aim was to explore and articulate the values that shape the diagnosis and care of Glaucoma.
At the centre of these sessions was a bespoke card game, designed as a research artefact to prompt meaningful discussions around values in clinical decision-making and patient interaction. Participants engaged with scenario-based prompts and value statements, reflecting on tensions and priorities in their professional practices and across disciplines.
The workshops offered a unique interdisciplinary space for reflection and exchange, contributing to Signoโs broader mission of designing healthcare technologies that are not only effective but ethically and culturally responsive.
